Meet Solomon

Solomon is a bright and cheerful 5-year-old boy currently attending Top Class, which is equivalent to kindergarten in the U.S. He lives with his mother and two other family members in a single-room home that is in poor condition. The family cooks with charcoal and shares an outdoor pit latrine with five other households.

Solomon’s mother earns a small and inconsistent income by selling used slippers. His father left the family when Solomon’s mother was five months pregnant and has not provided any financial support since. The family faces ongoing food insecurity and often survives on just one meal a day.

Due to limited income, Solomon is frequently sent home from school because his family cannot afford the required school fees. Despite these hardships, Solomon remains joyful and optimistic. He loves playing soccer and shows great promise both socially and academically.
