Meet Grace

Grace is a bright and enthusiastic 5-year-old boy currently attending Middle Class, which is equivalent to pre-kindergarten in the U.S. He lives with his mother and three siblings in a single-room home that is in poor condition. The family relies on charcoal for cooking and candles for lighting. They share an outdoor pit latrine with five other families.

Grace’s mother earns a small and inconsistent income by selling roasted and fried cassava. His father has left the household and relocated to another village, where he earns a meagre and unreliable income fetching water. The family struggles with food insecurity and often has only one meal a day.

Due to financial hardship, Grace is frequently sent home from school because his family cannot afford the required school fees. Despite these challenges, Grace shows a deep love for learning and a strong desire to grow both academically and personally.
